About the Union Church of Stow

Welcome to the Union Church of Stow. We hope you will
consider joining us this coming Sunday and checking us
out for yourself. Come and see what God is doing in our
midst. We provide a safe and friendly place for you and
your family to make friends and explore Christian
spirituality, wherever you are on your faith journey.

    Statement of Faith

We keep it simple! Our by-laws list the Apostles' Creed
    as our statement of faith.

    The Apostle's Creed.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
    creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
    born of the Virgin Mary
    suffered under Pontius Pilate,
    was crucified, died, and was buried;
    he descended to the dead.
    On the third day he rose again;
    he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
    the holy catholic Church,
    the communion of saints,
    the forgiveness of sins,
    the resurrection of the body,
    and the life everlasting.
    Amen.

Our church was founded by a group of Christians from
several different denominational backgrounds who, in
looking for common ground, decided to adopt one of
the oldest and most widely used statements of
Christian faith. That's the one we still proclaim today.
Today's congregation also comes from a variety of
    backgrounds.

Groups had been meeting as early as 1891, in folks'
homes until our first chapel was built in 1893. Our
present church was built in 1904. Also, there are some
records that indicate that some of these groups may
have been meeting as early as 1839.

If you are asking, what is "the communion of the
saints" or you're unsure about "the resurrection of the
body", maybe it's the right time to explore these things
and the Union Church of Stow is a good place to start.
